What to Consider Before Submitting a Copyright Complaint

Before submitting a copyright complaint, please consider if the use might qualify as fair use (or fair dealing under Indian law). Fair use allows limited use of copyrighted material without permission for purposes such as criticism, commentary, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, research, or parody.

Many stories on Marathikahani.com are traditional Marathi folklore, moral tales (नीतिकथा), mythological goshti, or public domain adaptations. If you’re unsure whether the material infringes your copyright, consult an attorney before filing.

Notifications of Infringement

  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

We review valid Notifications promptly. If compliant, we may remove or restrict access to the alleged infringing material. We will make reasonable efforts to notify the affected user (if applicable) about the action and inform them of counter-notification options.

We reserve the right to take no action if a Notification does not fully meet DMCA requirements. This policy does not limit other remedies we may pursue for suspected infringement.

Counter-Notifications

If your content is removed or access restricted due to a Notification, you may submit a counter-notification under DMCA § 512(g). A valid counter-notification must include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature
  • Identification of the removed material and its prior location
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed or restricted by mistake or misidentification
  • Your name, address, phone number, and consent to jurisdiction in a US federal court (or Indian court if applicable)
  • A statement that you will accept service of process from the complaining party

Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we may restore the material after 10–14 business days unless the complainant pursues legal action.

Changes and Amendments

We may update this Policy at any time. Changes will be posted here with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
